San Marcos – Texas State is the home to over 300 organizations and are always welcoming new orgs to make sure every student can find their niche. Miss Understood is a brand-new organization providing a safe space for the advancement and support of mental health, education, and awareness of opportunities and resources for the benefit of students of color.
“I felt like it was a great time to do this with all the stuff that’s happening in the media with mental health,” Nikole Okon, president, said. “Things are not physically being done about it. We may say a lot of things, we retweet things, but we never do action. I wanted to bring the action.”
Miss Understood will make its debut with their first meeting Monday, Nov. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., where they will discuss Family Ties; How does family and friends affect an individual’s mental health. The location is to be announced.
