Susie Mullen, the Viking Goddess of Texas State University’s dining halls, died in the arms of friends on March 24th following a week-long hospitalization. Members of the Texas State community reflect on the legacy of kindness she left behind.

Whether you knew her as the “Viking Goddess,” “Viking Lady” or simply Miss Susie, Susie Mullen was one of the most beloved members of the Texas State community.

For over 13 years Miss Susie worked as a cashier at the LBJ Student Center, where she brightened the day of every student that she met through her positive attitude.
Longtime friend Britt Patterson says her favorite thing about Miss Susie was her smile.
One of Miss Susie’s biggest passions was charity. She always said “If every student at Texas State gave just one dollar to the food bank, we could end hunger in our city.”
