It’s Multicultural Greek Week at Texas State University. A few sororities and fraternities have pitched their tents out on the quad.
Members of Alpha Delta Pi are out on campus to promote their philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald Foundation.
Sorority Alpha Delta Pi’s table has a tin filled with aluminum tabs that will be sold to a local recycling company to fund the Ronald McDonald House.
“Even though we aren’t on the Multicultural Greek council, we still want to be a part of this week and raise awareness for our cause,” said sophomore Cynthia Bryant.
Adjacent to the Alpha Delta Pi tent is another sorority who are out on the quad to fundraise.
Members of the sorority Sigma Lambda Gamma can be seen selling hot cheetos with melted cheese.
Sigma Lambda Gamma’s speciality for the day are ice cream floats, as noted by the largely printed words on the poster above.
“For our fundraising week, we wanted to raise money to go towards the ‘Student of Distinction’ scholarship. It really means a lot for us to give back to our community,” said Natalia Duran, President of Sigma Lambda Gamma.
All of the proceeds from Sigma Lambda Gamma’s fundraiser will go towards the “Student of Distinction” scholarship, awarded to a student who either attends Reagan or Travis High School in Austin, Texas.
“As a Greek community, this means a lot to us. Without philanthropy, we couldn’t be who we are today,” said senior Alyssa Solis.
