Texas State hosted First-Gen Week, which started on Monday, Nov 5, with colleges around the country to celebrate National First-Generation College Celebration Day. First-Gen Week started from Nov 5 till Nov 11 and the purpose is to celebrate and recognize the first-generation students of Texas State.
A conversation with Taylor Quiroz and Paul Lawson, senior students, at Texas State on their college experience, is perfect at this time. They explained their experiences as a traditional college student and a first-generation college student, showing how they have coped, made it to their senior year to finally getting their degrees.
The discussion leads into questions on what the college experience means, how theirs has been, what makes a positive college experience, to difficulties or challenges faced and if college is worth it.
