Blessings and Besos

Blessings and Besos is the new installment in the Wittliff Collection to celebrate the photographic legacy of Bill Wittliff (1940-2019). Located on the 7th floor of Alkek Library, the exhibition features more than 80 of Wittliff’s photographs. Most of which are from his works in capturing vaqueros working cattle to the making of the miniseries Lonesome Dove. The exhibition also shows never before seen photographs from his last roll of film. The collection reflects on Bill Wittliff’s love for Texas and Mexico in every way possible, especially regarding their shared cultures. The title of this exhibition is a nod to Wittliff’s favorite inscription when signing books, “Blessings and Besos (kisses)”

All photographs are protected and in use by the Wittliff Collection.
