Making San Marcos laugh on Wednesdays is Buzz Mill’s Comedy Night.
Buzz Mill is a local coffee house and bar that is open 365 days a year and all day. It is located at 194 South Guadalupe St. in San Marcos.
It is a hot spot for college students to enjoy fun events as well as study. Weekly they host events including Comedy Night on Wednesdays.The show is entirely free.
Two students, Norma Villatoro, electronic media junior and Garrett Buss, theatre senior, host the show. They are fans of comedy and love seeing the talent in the community.
At this event, various stand-up comedians come and take turns going up on stage and performing their acts. This past Wednesday there were about 20 comedians who signed up, and each act last about ten minutes.
Texas State students get involved, many of those being active members of the Texas State Comedy Association. From dad jokes to inappropriate jokes, the audience laughs with alcohol or coffee in hand.
Anyone is allowed to sign up for Comedy Night. Sign-up for comedians starts at 7:30 p.m., allowing the show to start promptly at 8 p.m.
Every month Camp Comedy features a resident comedian who gets an extended set.
If you are in San Marcos looking for something cool to do or have a good laugh on a weeknight this is definitely the place to be. Head over to Comedy Night on Wednesday night for some good laughs.

On Wednesdays, Buzzmill hosts Comedy Night on their patio at 7 p.m. Mark Pena, San Marcos local, made the crowd laugh by not making jokes, but instead he talked about the upcoming Avengers movie. Kathryn Wiedman, Texas State student, attended Comedy Night with her friends for the first time on April 24. One of the host Norma Villatoro, electronic media junior, had a sign up list for anyone to sign up for a stand up. Between alcohol and coffee, Laura Ortiz, Texas State student, made the audience laugh. After being on stage, one of the comedians enjoys his collegues on stage. Working sound for the night was Brent Losak. Ivan Garcia, Austin local, is pursuing his dream of being a comedian. Brianna Matherly, marketing sophomore and Garrett Buss, theatre senior, enjoy attending comedy night every Wednesday.
