As Guadalupe county continues its emergency order to stay home, there are still those who are considered “essential workers” and must continue working. Of those essential workers, telecommunication companies are working hard to keep communication fluid during this uneasy time. Being able to reach a loved one across the country as well as staying up do date on what is going on around the world is key to helping get past this situation we are in. Although those workers are still clocking in for their shifts like normal, their job has had to adapt to the ever-changing environment they are in. Here is a firsthand look at what AT&T has done, and continues to do, during this crisis.
AT&T Store In New Braunfels, TX. This AT&T store is located next to an HEB. There’s usually an line that extends in front of the door. Safety precautions the store has to take when seeing customers. Store Manager Eric Oster sits in an empty store waiting customers to enter, or the phone to ring. Masks AT&T provided for its employees to wear throughout the store. Sanitation products must stay directly behind the counter to prevent customers from taking them. A line forms outside AT&T’s door to get into HEB. Cash can no longer be accepted until an employee puts on gloves. Gloves must be changed after every interaction. Sign asking customers to be considerate. Hand sanitizer goes by faster than it is replenished. Early stages of the pandemic resulted in toilet paper rolls being stolen from the bathroom. A sign had to be put up to help combat this issue.
