Texas State University’s SACA organization hosted the second annual “So You Think You Can Drag” event at the LBJ Student Center on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. This event celebrated individuality and the student drag community. There were four contestants who performed and competed for the ultimate royal title.
Duvalin, Johnny Boy, and Lamb Ewe discussed their interest in the drag community and the deep stories behind their stage personality. Participating in drag shows is an outlet for these college students to perform and be apart of something bigger than themselves.
SACA Event coordinator Haley Thompson coordinated the event to bring awareness about identity for LGBTQIA students.
SACA was lucky enough to secure a big name in the LGBTQIA community, Rain Dove, as the host of the event. Dove gave a presentation of sorts throughout the event, rendering a more meaningful experience for both the performers and audience members.
