Monday, April 22 marked the 25th Anniversary of the Student Recreation Center. On February 17, 1994 Texas State opened the first student dedicated recreation facility on campus. In 2009, the Recreation Center expanded the existing footprint adding a climbing wall, weight room, two swimming pools, and four more basketball courts!
To celebrate this anniversary The Department of Campus Recreation hung up artifacts and memorabilia throughout the building. They also set up stations for the students to join the celebration with cake and other miscellaneous items. During the event the faculty took a few moments to speak about the journey and expansion that led to this moment.
The Student Recreation Center is a key part of Texas State University. The Rec has created a community for the student and staff to feel apart of. Thousands of students rotate in and out of the Student Recreation Center every day to indulge in the community and activities.
