San Marcos – International students at Texas State come from countries all over, and for some this is their first experience in the United States. The International Office welcomes the students and deals a lot with their paperwork, however they also host socials for the students. The International Office collaborates with the counseling center to curate different events that help support and uplift international students while they are here at Texas State. Oliver Holland, an international student from England enjoys going to the river after his classes. This is currently his second semester here at Texas State.
A look at the quad with students in it, Holland expressed he has experienced southern hospitality here at Texas State from the students he has interacted with.
The Thornton International House is where all international students go to deal with the legal side of their stay here. However, they also host events for international students as well as being their first introduction to Texas State.

The theater building on a warm morning is where Holland spends a lot of his time as a theater major. The warm weather was a big draw for Holland as he enjoys this stark contrast from England.

A common study spot, Holland finds himself at the computer at Alkek regularly logging onto Tracs fitting right in with the students of Texas State.
A regular at Jones Dining Hall, Holland finds himself eating Panda Express pretty often. He has assimilated right into American culture.
Here at the Rec is where Holland has made the most of his friends through pick up soccer games, which is a shared activity between his home and temporary country.
While Holland is used to life without a car, it is much difference experience here in America. You can see him walking to and from campus as he lives in an apartment within a few blocks.
