Historic Win For the Bobcats at Women’s NCAA Division 1 Volleyball Tournament

The Texas State Bobcats defeated the Rice Owls in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship. They will face the No. 5 Ranked University of Texas at Austin in the second round Friday.

The Bobcats, lead by Junior Cheyenne Huskey, put an end to the Owls season in four sets that scored 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 27-25.

Texas State then turned their attention to the University of Texas in the second round at Gregory Gymnasium.

The Longhorns come out of the first round of the tournament with a victory over the Stephen F. Austin University Lumberjacks. The last time Texas State faced Texas, the Longhorns came out on top after three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-19). The winner of Friday’s matchup will advance to the round of 16 teams.

Texas State would fall to the number fifth nationally ranked Longhorns in three sets. Eliminated from bracket play, this ends the Bobcats’ season. A historic first-round win and second-round appearance for this team.
